Caveman Diet

No, the Caveman Diet isn't something we made up
or pulled from a B grade movie from the 60's. Despite the
humorous name, the Caveman Diet is real and has gained
some popularity for its back to basics approach to weight loss.
The premise of the Caveman Diet is simple: based
off of what our ancestors diet consisted of in prehistoric
times, an emphasis is placed on high protein diets while
avoiding processed foods, grains, rice, and bread. In many
ways, this weight loss plan isn't that different than the
Atkins diet
- but includes a broader range of diet in addition to meat and
protein to include some fruits, grains, and salads and isn't
necessarily as carbohyrdate focused as Atkins.
The typical Caveman Diet meal plan includes food
like salad, all the grains and nuts you can eat, vegetables, and
of course the abundance of protein based meat and poultry foods.
While the Caveman Diet premise is
understandable, and we agree with some of the fundamentals of
avoiding highly processed foods, it places too much emphasis for
most on the consumption of meats & protein, fats, and too little
emphasis on a balanced diet or exercise -- elements shown to be
essential for permanent long term health & weight loss. By
contrast, our highest recommended diet plans of
