Diet Aids

by Diets Reviewed

We have all heard of miracle diets and tried several diet aids that promise to make you look like a celebrity in just a few weeks. What is questionable is their effectiveness. Most of these diet aids come into the foray of tremendous media hype and several people jump on their bandwagon. No one really bothers to check their effects or side effects before spending money on them.

What is very crucial is to realize that most of these diet aids simply fly in the face of logic. If an infomercial for an Abtronicâ or AbEnergizer tell you the product will covert loose flab to rock hard muscle you shouldn’t really trust them. Most before and after people shots in these infomercials are either graphically edited or airbrushed. Usually the fine print on product packaging will tell you the truth, but no one really bothers reading it before purchasing. All in all, muscle contractors cause minor muscle contraction and do not make a significant difference.

If you thought muscle contractors were the only ineffective products available, think of the nonprescription drugs available at all major drugstores. Candy type bars, herbal products like Spirulina, and quick weight loss pills are also examples of frequently ineffective solutions. Most candy type aids contain calories and Spirulina doesn’t have any researched and proven effect on obesity. Quick weight loss pills can be sometimes unsafe as they contain phenylpropanolamine, a chemical known to cause jitters.  The number of hyped diet aids on the market seems to grow exponentially as companies push miracle diets in a bottle over well structured weight loss and nutritional programs like those offered by eDiets, South Beach Diet, or the Bob Greene Diet.

Caffeine based products act as appetite suppressing pills. Caffeine is a diuretic and causes loss of weight by loss of water from the body. Though his is a fast way to shed some pounds, you are most likely to gain it right back. Rapid diet aids are usually fast ways to shed the pounds but are mostly temporary. As far as fat burning is concerned, there is no better solution than a proper diet and tremendous exercise.
