Vegetarian Diet Plan - Ornish Diet

by Diets Reviewed

The Ornish Diet has become more and more popular lately, featuring the teachings of its founder Dr. Dean Ornish.  Promoting the benefits that were originally centered around reducing heart disease, the Ornish Diet is essentially a vegetarian diet that includes the expected low fat, structured diet plan that typically goes along with them.

The premise of the Ornish Diet is essentially sound - adopting a low fat, vegetarian diet in the interest of improving your whole health is a sensible approach.  Included in this plan are a diet rich in whole grains, salads, berries, and results in a fairly low caloric intake - often in the 1,300 - 1,500 calorie range.  Those following the plan closely will certainly be likely to see results - but that doesn't mean its for everyone.

Final Vegetarian Diet Weight Loss Analysis - Ornish Diet

While we like the Ornish Diet in principle, its too restrictive for many to maintain for lifelong nutritional balance.  The principles are sound, its not a fad diet, but our highest recommendation remains with other options - including the Healthy Heart Diet, the Bob Greene Diet, South Beach, or eDiets.
